Ladies are well known for their safe driving habits and they get low cost women's car insurance as a result. However, new research by a motor insurance company has shown that many female drivers would like other motorists to be as safe as them.
The study, carried out by ntl:Telewest found that the vast majority (84%) of ladies would support the use of CCTV to catch out drink drivers. When men were surveyed, fewer (74%) said they thought it was a good idea.
There was general support for cameras used for other purposes on the roads too, with 54% of respondents backing speed cameras and 58% believing cameras that detect untaxed cars would be beneficial.
Police are already using cameras to identify people who are breaking some motoring laws, such as driving without car insurance, and this has proven to be very successful when combined with automatic number plate recognition.
Lee-Anne Bass of women's car insurance provider CoverGirl Car Insurance Services said: "I think CCTV has the potential to be very effective in cutting down motoring offences.
"If it can get dangerous drivers off the road, I am all in favour of it."
