Cheap cars and fully comp cover don't mix
If you are searching for fully comprehensive cheap car insurance and your car is worth only a few hundred pounds it might be time to downgrade your car insurance or upgrade your car.
In an advice column in the Sunday Mirror, Quentin Willson advised a reader that her 1996 BMW 318i vehicle was probably not worth insuring at a fully comprehensive rate.
The woman's garage had advised her that the car was worth £600 and a car insurance premium for fully comprehensive cover would be £480.
Mr Willson commented, "It's not worth shelling out £500, when your car's only worth six.
"Either reduce your cover (you really don't need fully comp), or buy yourself a car that's actually worth insuring.
"At the moment you'd be throwing good money after bad."
