Cheap car insurance providers are warning drivers to keep up the payments on their insurance policies after a woman from Derrylin, near Enniskillen, was fined and had her license endorsed for driving without valid insurance.
The woman had allegedly missed a couple of her car insurance payments, and when she was stopped at a vehicle checkpoint and asked to produce her documents she could not do so.
The insurance company had already cancelled her policy and although the defendant thought she had rectified the matter, she later found that her car insurance was still cancelled.
The female driver contacted her insurers and the policy was reinstated, but the offence had already been committed.
The District Judge fined the woman £200 and issued six penalty points. A £50 fine was also imposed for driving a vehicle without a valid MOT certificate.
A CoverGirl spokesperson commented, "We would advise all our customers who buy our cheap car insurance policies that not keeping up monthly payments can put your car cover under threat. Driving without full and proper documentation can lead to serious motoring offences."
