Cheap car insurance firm finds 1 in 3 ladies ignore mobile phone law

Research into mobile phone use by a cheap car insurance company has shown that 30% of ladies are still using them illegally whilst driving.

Admiral's Annual Survey revealed that although the number of motorists who use their hand-held mobile phone while driving is down on last year, 1 in 3 drivers still do so. When surveyed, 36% of men and 30% of ladies admitted to doing so, despite a massive 91% saying that they were in favour of the legislation.

The cheap car insurance firm also found that getting a conviction for using a hand-held mobile whilst driving could raise a driver's motor insurance quotes by up to £100.

A spokesperson for Admiral said: "If you receive a motoring conviction, no matter what offence it is for, you must inform your car insurance company. This will often result in a higher renewal premium because evidence shows that people with motoring convictions are a higher insurance risk."
