Research by Saga has shown that female drivers' greatest fears include being involved in a road rage attack and losing their cheap car insurance premiums in an accident.
The UK motor insurance provider found that just 23% of female drivers are worry-free when driving, compared to 50% of men. The most common worry was having a run in with a road rager, closely followed by being in a car accident.
However, other worries which ranked quite highly in the Saga survey included having to drive close to lorries, motoring in poor weather conditions and driving on a motorway.
A spokesperson for the cheap car insurance company commented: ""The survey.highlights the stark difference between men and women when it comes to being confident on the roads, although some would argue that a little more caution might in the end produce a safer driver."
The research also looked at older and younger drivers, and found that those aged over 50 worry less about being involved in a road accident than those below 50.
The Saga spokesperson added: "The findings dispel some of the myths that younger drivers are more confident than the older generation and proves how experience often helps."
