An Italian priest caught drink driving is unlikely to find cheap car insurance after over- indulging on the communion wine. The priest blamed his drink driving on the holy wine he had consumed as part of mass but police rejected his excuse and revoked his driving licence.
The 41-year-old was caught coming off the Milan-Turin motorway with a blood alcohol content of 0.8 grams which is above the legal Italian limit of 0.5 grams.
The priest is appealing against the ruling, claiming that he did not consume the alcohol by choice as it was part of the Catholic mass which he had held four times that day. If his appeal is not successful, he could find the search for cheaper car insurance very difficult.
