Three nuns stopped by Italian police may struggle to find car insurance for women after getting caught doing 120mph to reach the Pope XVI's side after hearing of his fall.
The 56-year-old driver of the Ford Fiesta was accompanied by two other nuns aged 65 and 78 when she was pulled over by shocked police officers about an hour away from Pope Benedict's summer holiday chalet at Les Combes.
Not dissimilar to a scene from Sister Act, the trio risked their women's car insurance and jumped in the car after hearing of the pope's fall in the bathroom which has left him with a fractured wrist.
His injury had caused great concern at the nuns' Salesian convent and the driver had this to say of her speedy driving, "We had heard how the Pope had fallen over and we were on our way to make sure he was ok."
A spokesperson for Turin police said, "Hopefully [the sister] will be making sure she confesses her bad driving the next time she goes to confession. But in the meantime, she will have to pay the 375 Euros fine (£325) and is likely to pay higher premiums when she renews her car insurance for women."
