Some drivers bemoan the fact that cheap car insurance for women is available and just won't believe the statistics that prove the reasoning behind this happy occurrence.
When a male driver wrote to the Staffordshire and South Cheshire Sentinel stating that women drivers should be "banned from the roads unless supervised by a male," he didn't bargain on having the gauntlet thrown down by a 27-year-old mum who professed that she had "never had or caused an accident" and had only ever witnessed car accidents caused by men.
The debate raged on until the nursery nurse proposed a challenge, but the LGV driver declined the test saying, "I drive an LGV truck, and having passed first time in such a big vehicle, I feel it would be inappropriate for me to take on this challenge as I would win hands down."
The challenge eventually took place between the female driver and a 41-year-old male taxi driver, and under driving test conditions over a shortened test route, both drivers made several minor errors and two that were deemed serious.
So, it would seem that drivers of both genders are fairly equal in their abilities and neither should shout too loudly.
A spokesperson for CoverGirl said, "We are able to provide cheap car insurance for women because they have fewer catastrophic accidents that induce high value claims – they are generally more cautious, unlike the author of the letter who did not see the risk of his action or the consequences of opening up such a can of worms."
