A news item from Texas recently highlighted a great way to lose your cheap car insurance for women entitlement and here at CoverGirl we thought we'd share it with you.
A woman from Lufkin near Houston dropped off her children at a day car centre and returned to find her car had been stolen.
However, she readily admitted that she had left the vehicle unlocked and with the engine running.
When the car was later found abandoned, cash, jewellery and electronics had been removed.
Under the terms of most UK car insurance policies, leaving a vehicle unlocked will instantly invalidate a claim and your insurer will not have to pay out.
What's more, making a fraudulent claim by saying that the car was secured could prove equally damaging as you could end up in court for what might seem like an innocent little lie.
A CoverGirl Insurance Services spokesperson said, "Leaving your keys in the ignition – even for an instant – could see the vehicle stolen by an opportunist.
"Protect your cheap car insurance for women and always lock your car whenever you leave it."
