A cheap car insurance company has been taking a look at the differences between male and female drivers on the roads.
Elephant.co.uk, which specialises in low cost online car insurance quotes, has revealed that ladies are more likely than men to hit a cyclist or a parked car whilst driving; something which seemingly puts into question women's cheap car insurance deals.
However, the car insurer also found that men are much more likely than ladies to hit a pedestrian, an animal or a tree whilst behind the wheel, and are also 42% more likely to have dangerous head-on collisions. Ladies, on the other hand, have a much higher car accident rate in car parks.
The online cheap car insurance firm's research also revealed that women also have a much greater tendency than men to lose their car keys.
A spokesperson for elephant.co.uk said: "We hold a vast amount of data on accidents and wanted to see if there was a difference between how men and women crash. It soon became clear there was.
"You'd think that the lack of a handbag would make men more likely to lose their keys but this certainly doesn't seem to be the case. When it comes to flood damage, men are probably more likely to drive into water thinking they'll come sailing out the other side than women."
