It seems that more and more people are getting dumped via emails and text messages, according to an online provider of cheap car insurance.
In a recent survey by Moneysupermarket.com, a whopping 15% of Brits admitted to having been dumped via email or text message. It was also revealed that 4% of people interviewed broke off all contact with their partners without a single word.
A spokesperson for the online motor insurance provider said: "Most of us send emails and text everyday, so it comes as no surprise they are now being used to ditch someone, however distasteful this is.
"The results show one per cent of the population would use a social networking site to dump a partner. It would be interesting to see how this changes as sites such as Facebook and MySpace become more apparent in our everyday lives."
Commenting on the story, a spokeswoman for CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, the experts in cheap car insurance, said: "In today's modern and technological world, it's sad but not surprising that many people dump their loved ones over the internet or via text."
