Cheap car insurance quotes are likely to be off-limits for quite some time for a lady who got so drunk she fell asleep parked at the side of a motorway in Wales.
Julia Lowes, who ironically works for a soft drinks manufacturer, was driving back from a friend's party in her Renault Megane when the incident occurred.
She was observed driving "all over the road" by other drivers on the M4 near Bridgend, several of whom called the police.
However, when the police arrived at the scene, she was not longer driving erratically. Instead, she had stopped on the hard shoulder and fallen sound asleep.
Deena Loynton, prosecutor in Ms Lowes' case, said: "It took two officers more than five minutes of constant knocking and shouting on the window to rouse her from her slumber.
"When she stepped out she was very unsteady on her feet and had to be supported by one of the officers."
She was breathalysed at the scene and was found to be more than three times the permissible limit.
Bridgend magistrates banned Ms Lowes from driving for three years and fined her £350.
It is likely that her drink driving conviction will mean that motor insurance companies will view her as a higher risk driver and increase the cost of her cheap car insurance quotes accordingly.
