Cheap car insurance site highlights green savings

Green motorists save money whilst protecting the environment, according to a cheap car insurance website.

Motorinsurance.co.uk, which compares car insurance quotes from over 100 UK insurers, is advising motorists that buying a green vehicle such as an electric or hybrid car could mean significant savings on road tax and other costs.

A spokesperson for the cheap car insurance site explained: "Generally it is believed that electric and hybrid vehicles offer better fuel consumption, cheaper tax costs and start in lower insurance bands, therefore reducing the overall running cost of the car."

However, he warned that the actual cost of motor insurance will depend on the type of car and personal factors.

He also commented: "With a mass introduction of hybrid and electric vehicles, repair costs may be reduced through the market, however the cost of repairing hybrid and electric vehicles differ from manufacturer to manufacturer and this is something that is factored into a customer's final quote for insurance cover."
