Cheap car insurance for women goes up by 3.1%

The average cheap car insurance customer is paid 4.2% more in July 2007 than in July 2006, according to Sainsbury's Bank Car Insurance Index.

The Index revealed that the cost of women's car insurance rose by 3.1% over this period, whilst motor insurance went up by 5.2% for men. The average ladies' car insurance quote stands at £442.28 compared to £518.46 for their male counterparts.

A spokesperson for Sainsbury's Car Insurance said: "Premiums have been rising steadily and it has been predicted that this year, they could increase by as much as ten per cent."

She went on to advise the motoring public that cheap car insurance deals were still around, but people need to shop around and get plenty of motor insurance quotes to get the best rates.

*A replacement car can normally be arranged under one of the following conditions: (1) Comprehensive policyholders – a replacement car may be available under the terms of your insurance policy. (2) Non fault accident – where we have the name, car registration number and insurance details of the person who caused the accident, we can supply a replacement car. This is done on a credit hire basis which means the costs for this service will be passed onto the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. We may not be able to arrange a replacement car where we are unable to get an admission of liability from their insurance company, or where the driver is untraceable or uninsured. (3) Repair garage – if your car is booked in for repairs following an accident, the repair garage may be able to provide a replacement car (subject to availability).
