Scrappage! How does it work?
As well as getting cheap
car insurance women can now get a £2,000 reduction on the cost
of a new car as the government's ‘scrappage' scheme has recently come
into force.
To qualify for the scheme your current vehicle must be 10 years old or
over – that's a T reg minimum – and has to have been registered in the
UK before August 31st 1999.
The old vehicle must be:
- a car or van up to 3.5 tonnes
- registered by the DVLA as in the name of the person buying the new
car and having been owned by that person for a year
- covered by a valid MOT certificate
The new vehicle must be:
- under 3.5 tonnes in weight
- registered for the first time in the UK on or after May 18th 2009
- new and without former keepers
- built to UK specification
If you are interested in making use of the scrappage incentive you should
first check that the car dealership you are to do business with are taking
part in the scheme.
So, as a bonus to your gender specific cheap
car insurance, women (and men) can cash in on their old car and drive
away in a brand spanking new cheap(er) car.
