Women's car insurance news - Ladies getting cheap motor insurance quotes 10 years earlier than men

New research has revealed that ladies in their 20s find it easier to get a cheap motor insurance quote than their male counterparts.

The online car insurance comparison site moneysupermaket.com has found that the average price of a motor insurance quote for a 20-something woman is £736, which compares with £1,123 for a man of a similar age.

However, once both ladies and men are in their 30s, the gap closes quite dramatically and both genders get average motor insurance quotes of about £540.

Peter Gerrard, an online car insurance researcher from moneysupermaket.com, said: "It's clear from these statistics that insurers view women as mature motorists in their 20s, while men have to wait a decade longer to have their boy racer premiums wiped out.

"Younger drivers often find it hard to get competitive motor insurance, as insurers rate them as a high risk group, but there are ways they can cut their insurance costs, such as adding a parent to their policy or looking at specialist insurers who target young drivers."
