CoverGirl ranks among cheapest car cover competitors

Analysis of millions of cheap car insurance quotes by a top Internet comparison site has revealed two online providers - Swiftcover and Kwik-fit - are serving up the cheapest UK quotes time after time.

Both companies are proving to be the most competitive in the country, according to moneysupermarket.com, with average policies costing a fraction under £277.

And the study highlights that online-only insurance sites, similar to CoverGirl, rank well among Britain's competitive insurance companies.

Online-only firms were singled out by moneysupermarket because such Internet-driven, smaller companies have low overheads that help ensure average premiums are cheaper than larger, perhaps top-heavy, expense-ridden and bureaucratic, rivals and corporates.

Moneysupermarket.com's research chief, Peter Gerrard, said online-only businesses were "very nimble" on price.

The research confirmed that female drivers choosing policies from such sites are making a sensible and wise financial decision. A spokeswoman for CoverGirl welcomed the report.

She said, "Searching for a cheap car insurance quote can be quite a maze. Now, this research clearly shows that CoverGirl is one of the best places to go for woman car cover - we aren't full of hot air, we really believe women can get a competitive deal with us."
