Research from Norwich Union has revealed that UK ladies may be risking their women's car insurance when driving abroad.
The cheap car insurance company carried out a 'Driving Abroad Survey', in which it found that 48% of motorists are apprehensive when it comes to driving in another country.
According to the study, the thought which most terrifies UK drivers overseas is having an accident and having to swap motor insurance details. This is closely followed by having to adhere to different driving regulations, having their car break down, and being unable to understand foreign road signs.
However, it seems that motorists have a right to be worried about driving on unfamiliar roads abroad. Norwich Union found that 35% had risked their women's car insurance by driving on the wrong side of the road by accident, whilst 42% have mistakenly looked the wrong way when pulling out of a junction.
A spokesperson for the UK car insurance company said: "We strongly advise drivers planning a trip abroad to do their homework on road rules and regulations before they leave the country.
"It's important to understand that fully comprehensive motor insurance in the UK does not automatically mean the same level of cover abroad and so we urge people to contact their insurer to assess their level of cover abroad and decide whether to upgrade their policy prior to the trip."
