How confident are you as a female driver? Insurance company research has shown that women motorists fear they would fail if they were asked to take their practical driving test again.
Results from the insurance.co.uk poll of 1,000 drivers revealed that 52 per cent of drivers felt there was a "high chance" they would fail the test.
Out of the women who answered 59 per cent felt they would struggle, compared with 46 per cent of men.
Worryingly, the research highlighted that some motorists could not identify common road signs, and speeding was highlighted as the main driver error.
Motorists admitted to travelling at over 70 mph on motorways, and over 60 mph on dual carriageways.
Interestingly, a recent Scottish Government survey highlighted that almost
half of male drivers have penalty points for speeding on their licence
compared with just 31 per cent of women.
Female
driver insurance companies recognise that this reservation of driving
ability and lower inclination to break speed regulations can translate
positively to women, making them less of a risk for car
insurance than men.
