The AA is warning female drivers that they could see their motor insurance quotes rise by 20% next year, thanks mainly to boy racers.
Boy racers are thought to be one of the most likely groups to drive without car insurance and a number of motor insurance companies consider them to be a high risk group who cannot afford to pay the resulting premiums.
The AA claims that crashes on the UK's roads caused by uninsured young men are costing many millions of pounds.
At present, motor insurance quotes are increased by around £30 to compensate those injured by uninsured drivers. However, the growing problem of uninsured driving could see this figure rise dramatically, with honest female drivers paying lots extra for their women's car insurance to cover boy racers' mistakes.
Unfortunately, the situation looks as if it won't be getting any better soon. Motor insurance companies are continuing to raise the cost of young driver car insurance, partly because of the high accident risk and partly due to uninsured drivers.
In turn, this means that the young drivers cannot afford to buy motor insurance, leaving many turning to uninsured driving.
