An engineering student from the University of Sheffield has won the 2007 Ford WISE prize, awarded each year by Ford of Britain and the Women Into Science and Engineering Campaign (WISE).
The annual prize goes to the female engineering student whose talents most impress a panel of top engineering professionals from Ford. Entrants face a gruelling selection process that tests both their practical skills and their performance in an interview with the judges.
"[The recipient] demonstrated excellent engineering ability, which, coupled with her charismatic, intelligent and enthusiastic style, make her an excellent role model and a very worthy winner of the 2007 Ford Wise prize," said one of the panel of judges, an Engine Assembly Supervisor currently working at Ford.
It's great to hear about women getting recognised for their skills in traditionally male-dominated fields like science and engineering," said a spokesperson for the woman car insurance experts at CoverGirl Car Insurance Services.
