Many motorists have expressed concerns about whether they will be able to afford to continue driving amid the rising prices of fuel and men and ladies car insurance, according to the results of a motoring census of 2011 carried out by a car insurance provider.
The census revealed that 44 percent of motorists claim to enjoy driving less than they used to, with 68 percent of these claiming that this attitude is largely down to the extra costs of owning a car.
These statistics strike a stark comparison to the results of a census taken from 2010 in which only 38 percent of drivers agreed that had stopped enjoying driving, with 38 percent of this figure also stating that this is due to the costs.
A few of the respondents admitted that they were considering charging friends and family members for lifts, and one in eight people interviewed said that they were likely to drive much less or stop driving at all if petrol prices continue to rise.
Some motorists are able to make savings on their car insurance for women and men by choosing a telematics insurance provider which provides renewal quotes based on information about how a car is driven.
