Female drivers are being urged to avoid claiming on their woman car insurance policy by choosing a safe car park.
The Retail Motor Industry Federation is highlighting the fact that car parks are not always the best choice for those wishing to protect their car and their motor insurance, with well-lit streets preferable to dingy commercial car parks that are not covered by CCTV.
However, it is also reminding motorists that the safest car parks are those which have been given the "Secured Car Park" title. This shows that the car park has a high level of surveillance and security, as well as good lighting.
A spokesperson for the organisation offered the following advice for female motorists wishing to protect their woman car insurance at home: "When we park our cars, we assume they will be there when we get back. Unfortunately, for some drivers, this is not always the case.
"If you own a garage, make the most of it. Park your vehicle in it and lock it, rather than leaving it on the street. If not, park in a well-lit, open place, not one hidden from view or with obvious escape routes.'
