A lady who could lose her great woman car insurance rates after an accident is calling for road safety improvements to be made quickly.
The 21-year-old Dorset woman was travelling down a road near Affpuddle when she was forced to swerve to avoid a speeding motorist coming towards her.
She crashed into a bridge and almost tipped over the edge towards a river before coming to a halt. Fortunately, she did not sustain any injuries in the collision.
However, the woman car insurance customer was not so lucky when it came to paying for the consequences of the near miss. The car was towed away and she is being charged almost £700 for the storage, for which she may need to turn to her motor insurance company.
She said: "I'd have been better off financially if it had been a head-on collision as the insurance company would have paid.
"As it is, I'm being told to pay for the recovery of a car that I don't even want back. It's a write off. I've had to go and buy another car and I'll lose my no claims bonus."
According to the Dorset Daily Echo, hers was the second accident in a week at the bridge. In response to the story, council officials revealed that safety measures are in the pipeline for the area, including signs and markings on the road.
