As the recession continues, an increasing number of car owners have been making fraudulent claims on their women's car insurance. But those considering making false claims should be warned – not only is fraud a crime with serious ramifications, but insurance companies are beginning to use lie detectors to help seek out false claimers.
Insurance firm esure is using Voice Risk Analysis technology when interviewing claimants to identify micro changes in the speaker's voice which can indicate whether a person is telling the truth or not by showing stress.
Gordon Hannah, director of claims and operations at esure, said that the company needs to be "extremely vigilant" when investigating vehicles which do not fit the stolen car profile.
"We have found cognitive interviewing to be an effective way of spotting and clamping down on attempted fraud."
A Covergirl spokesperson said, "With such great deals to be found on women's car insurance car owners have no need to turn to such extreme measures to save money."
