12% of drivers are guilty of using their cars as "lovemobiles" to enjoy
their partner's company in, a new poll has revealed. According to the
survey carried out by Autotrader.co.uk, amorous in-car behaviour is just
one of a long list of bad driving habits that motorists indulge in while
at the wheel that could be risking their cheap
car insurance for women.
Based on the results of 2,700 motorists across the UK, the survey revealed
that 72% ate or drank behind the wheel, 85% listened to loud music, 64%
used a sat nav and 93% changed the radio station or changed CDs while
driving.
Matt Thompson, marketing director of Auto Trader said that 41% of the
motorists questioned also admitted to texting while at the wheel.
A further 62 % admitted to shouting and gesticulating at other motorists
and 22% smoked at the wheel.
Under the Road Traffic Act 1988, drivers who drive "without due care and
attention" or "without reasonable consideration for other road users"
could receive up to 9 penalty points and could face going to court. Smoking,
eating, drinking and even over excited singing whilst at the wheel can
all qualify as offences under these acts.
Losing your driver's licence and the chance of cheap car
insurance for women would certainly take the passion out of any romantic
indulgences in the car and make you think twice about singing and dancing
along to Shania Twain at the wheel.
