An Australian survey has found that more ladies than men risk their cheap car insurance by checking their appearance in the rear view mirror.
The research was carried out by Woolcott Research on behalf of a motor insurance company. It found that one in four males would glance into their mirror to check their looks compared to one in three ladies.
Motorists aged between 25 and 34 were found to be the most worried about their appearance, with 40% telling researchers that they use their rear view mirror to look at themselves.
Whilst there is nothing wrong with looking in the mirror while parked up, the research also showed that checking their appearance could cost some motorists their cheap car insurance. 5% of those aged under 30 and 3% of those aged over 30 revealed that they had either been in an accident or nearly been in an accident.
On top of this, Woolcott Research also found that 82% of drivers risk their motor insurance by eating or drinking at the wheel.
