New research has revealed that women drivers deserve every penny of the cheap online car insurance quotes they get.
The study, carried out by YouGov, showed that the vast majority - 82% - of women were put off from using their mobiles while at the wheel by the penalties that are being introduced in 2007.
This compares with just 62% of men.
When the new penalties come in, drivers can be fined £60 and get three points on their licence, something which is going to see many peoples' motor insurance quotes rocketing if they do not change their current habits.
Over the past 18 months, the number of motorists who have lapsed back into using hand-held mobile phones whilst driving has increased dramatically. It is hoped that these new penalties will be effective in deterring the majority of offenders.
Lancashire County Council has been warning motorists of the dangers of driving while talking on the phone as the UK passes the third anniversary of the law banning hand-held mobiles behind the wheel.
A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: "Drivers who continue to ignore the law are risking their lives, their passengers' lives and the lives of other road users.
"Higher penalties will hopefully work to reduce the number of road casualties and make Lancashire a safer place to travel.
Lee-Anne Bass, of women's online car insurance firm CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, said: "It is encouraging to see that so many lady drivers are being deterred from this dangerous habit by the new penalties.
"Hopefully we'll see the practice of driving while using a hand-held mobile practically stamped out once the new law has come into effect so more drivers can drive safely and protect their cheap car insurance."
