According to a recent insurance survey, motor insurance quotes for woman drivers of cabriolets are set to rise significantly in the near future.
The research has shown that between 1997 and today the number of men driving 'soft tops' has risen from two percent to five percent. Women have embraced cabriolet driving to the tune of six per cent today, a near threefold rise from 1997 figures.
Interestingly, Britons buy more than twice as many soft tops as are bought in Italy and ten times the amount of convertibles that are sold in Spain. A remarkable statistic considering that UK sunshine figures are significantly less than either of these countries.
A woman's car insurance spokesperson said in the last ten years the boom for cabriolets was spearheaded by the Mazda MX-5, but has been superceded in 2005 by the Peugeot 206cc which has been the most popular choice with women ever since.
With UK sunshine levels so low it can be hard to understand why British
drivers pay for a feature they can so rarely use, but psychologists believe
that it is the very nature of our bad climate that tempts us to buy convertibles.
They believe that the rare appearance of sunshine makes us feel so good
and it brings on a holiday mood.
A Swansea mother of two and owner of an open top Renault
Megane says, "I suppose there is a little bit of the poser in most
of us, but I drive it simply because it makes me feel good.
"It's fun and it does give you a bit of a buzz when the roof goes down
and the sun is shining.'
Motor
insurance quotes for women soft top drivers are bound to be on the
increase and a CoverGirl spokesperson said, "To keep motoring costs low
our dedicated woman's car
insurance is a must have item.
