US state may outlaw low cost woman car insurance rates
Although the decision to carry on offering woman car insurance for less has been taken in the UK, female drivers in a US state are facing the prospect of having to pay the same motor insurance rates as men.
It has been suggested by the Opposition Conservatives that young New Brunswick men are being discriminated against in the current situation, and that the only way to make things fair would be to charge the same for women.
The consumer affairs minister for New Brunswick argues that young men do not actually pose a statistically higher risk than ladies, and that people should see an average reduction of 13.5% in their car insurance premiums if the legislation is passed.
However, the Conservative MLA argues that making woman car insurance rates more expensive is also discrimination.
She said: "Statistically, women are less risk, so if you combine the two and bring men and women together in the same category, no matter which way you cut it, women are going to pay more."

This is done on a credit hire basis which means the costs for this service will be passed onto the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. We may not be able to arrange a replacement car where we are unable to get an admission of liability from their insurance company, or where the driver is untraceable or uninsured. (3) Repair garage – if your car is booked in for repairs following an accident, the repair garage may be able to provide a replacement car (subject to availability).
