The Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM) has issued a timely summer reminder that drinking and driving can seriously jeopardise your chances of receiving a cheap car insurance quote.
They reiterate that the endorsement on your license, should you be caught over the blood alcohol limit, lasts for 11 years. That's 11 years of expensive motor insurance.
The IAM advises; if you're going to drink, don't drive and if you're going to drive, don't drink.
There are around 32 million motorists on British roads and a staggering 50 per cent of them have owned up, in previous surveys, to driving after the consumption of alcohol.
IAM advice includes the use of designated drivers who agree to abstain from alcohol in order to drive people safely.
They also suggest motorists driving abroad should be aware of differing alcohol driving regulations at their holiday destination.
A CoverGirl spokesperson commented, "We offer cheap car insurance to safe women drivers; endorsement points on your license for an alcohol related offence will be viewed severely. The consequences of alcohol related car accidents are devastating."
