Research by a cheap car insurance provider has revealed that millions of lady drivers in the UK get hot under the collar when it comes to finding a parking space near their home, which could reflect badly on their woman's car insurance premium.
The Direct Line survey of 2,514 motorists found that a third of drivers feel that the spot outside their house should be automatically theirs but 60% admitted to showing symptoms of parking rage when they find that their usual spot is taken.
There are a range of tactics used by women who wish to keep their parking space free. The most usual method is blocking the space using traffic cones or bins, although some ladies have gone even further and tried to dissuade people from parking in their space again by blocking them in or leaving a note on the windscreen of the offending car.
However, some ladies are even willing to risk their woman car insurance, with a small number admitting to having intentionally bumped a car parked in "their" space.
Emma Hoyler, spokesperson for the low cost motor insurance company, said: "Parking is a major issue for today's motorists. We are all fed up of paying excessive charges for parking in town or at work and then coming home to find we can't park anywhere near home."
Lee-Anne Bass from CoverGirl Car Insurance Services said: "Considering these findings, it is no wonder one person recently paid almost £40,000 for a two-car garage in Brighton."
