A pensioner who dressed in disguise so she could drive her Ford Fiesta whilst banned has escaped a prison sentence.
The 68-year-old woman may have got cheap car insurance in the past but will find it very difficult to get an affordable deal in the future.
The court heard how the woman wore a wig so she could freely drive to her local garage to buy some cigarettes. Fortunately, a neighbour saw her leave the house and they alerted the police immediately.
Not only had the lady been driving without a licence, she also had no female driver insurance to protect her and other motorists in the event of an accident.
In court, the pensioner pleaded guilty to driving whilst disqualified and without motor insurance. She was sentenced to 20 weeks in custody suspended for two years and given another disqualification for three years.
In future years, she may find it extremely difficult to find a cheap car insurance quote, no matter how many providers she gets online quotes from.
