A police officer has admitted lying to her women's car insurance company about a car accident she was involved in because she was too scared of her fellow police officer partner.
The 23 year-old Derbyshire woman told the jury at Stafford Crown Court that her ex-partner had lied to insurers that she was driving when the couple's Renault Clio crashed into a kerb causing £3,000 of damage.
The special constable admitted lying on forms to the insurance company naming her partner as the driver. However, she claims she was not motivated by financial reasons but was "too scared" of her partner to challenge the lie.
The pair had been in the middle of an argument when the accident occurred causing the driver to lose attention on the road. Both women deny obtaining financial advantage by deception over their women's car insurance company.
