Smoking could lead to loss of cheap car insurance
Female smokers could be in for a shock if cheap car insurance companies decide to put up premiums for those caught smoking whilst driving.
Confused.com, an online car insurance comparison website, has pointed out that those who are caught driving without due care and attention because of smoking behind the wheel now face a fine and points on their licence.
Most cheap car insurance companies will consider motorists with this conviction to be a higher risk and consequently up the cost of motor insurance quotes for these drivers.
A spokesperson for Confused.com commented: "Driving without due care and attention is taken very seriously by insurers, and this is reflected in the amount by which premiums rise.
However, she also pointed out, "Time will tell which insurers increase or decrease the level to which they penalise those caught smoking while driving."
