New research from car insurance company Legal & General shows that eight out of ten British motorists choose music over pills like paracetamol and aspirin as the best way to beat stress.
The survey of 5,000 people also reveals a clear divide between the types of music men and women like to relax to.
While male respondents picked stuffy classical music and dated classic rock as their favourite chill-out genres, us ladies opted for modern pop and soul tracks.
The jury's out on whether or not our superior taste in relaxing tunes has anything to do with woman car insurance costing lass than the average - but the male urge to play conductor or air guitar is a distraction we could all do without.
Lee-Anne Bass, spokesperson for the online car insurance experts at CoverGirl, said: "It's great to hear women are turning to their CDs and radios rather than mindlessly popping headache pills to get over a stressful time.
"The trend can't help but have a positive effect on accident rates and the price of woman car insurance," she added.
