A Scottish grandmother whose Corsa caught fire on her driveway, moments before she was about to give her grandson a lift, is being forced to battle with the manufacturer and her insurer after they have told her that her Vauxhall cheap car insurance will not cover the damage.
The Corsa, one of 250,000 recalled because of a brake system fault that can cause unexpected combustion, caught fire outside the woman's home and is now a wreck that has been towed to a storage facility.
However, her Vauxhall cheap car insurance provider says it is a mechanical problem and is therefore not covered by her policy.
So far, the woman has been unable to get Vauxhall to retrieve the car and offer any comment.
Recently a Sunday Mail legal and consumer advice journalist contacted the motor manufacturer about the issue and Vauxhall have now responded to calls for action.
A spokesperson said, "We want to establish the precise cause of the fire, which will determine our course of action."
Specialist Vauxhall car insurance is available online at CoverGirl.co.uk.
