Research conducted by Vauxhall Motors has revealed that the UK is a nation of music lovers who just can't bear to be without good tunes in their cars.
The motor manufacturer's poll of 1,200 drivers showed that 41% of drivers consider their car to be the best place to listen to music; more than double the number who said their home was their favourite music setting.
32% of those interviewed by Vauxhall even admitted that they make trips in their vehicle just so they can turn on the stereo, whilst 76% said it is essential to prepare their music before setting out on a road trip.
The Corsa and Vectra-manufacturer also found that some motorists use their car as a secluded place to indulge their secret passion for easy-listening or heavy metal music.
A spokesperson for Vauxhall said: "These results reveal just how much drivers enjoy the freedom to listen to what they really want to hear thanks to their car. Not even we anticipated the emerging trend of cars being the place to secretly stash your guilty pleasure songs.
"Vauxhall will have to look into creating hidden compartments to hide those forbidden tracks to keep your image intact."
