Dangerous driving conviction drives up woman car insurance rates
A 49-year-old lady is unlikely to see any low woman car insurance rates for some time after receiving a conviction for dangerous driving.
The London woman was involved in an incident involving a traffic warden in July 2005, in which she apparently lost her temper after receiving a parking ticket.
The traffic warden explained what happened to Kingston Crown Court, saying: "[She] called me a bully. I was walking around the car to explain why she had been issued with the notice when she started to drive forward. I assumed she would stop the car but she didn't."
The female driver then apparently drove off down the road at between 10 and 15mph, with the traffic warden clinging onto the bonnet for dear life.
The prosecution said: "Driving any number of seconds with a parking attendant attached to the bonnet clearly constitutes dangerous driving."
She was found guilty of the charge of dangerous driving and was told to pay compensation to the traffic warden. It is also likely her woman car insurance premium will go up after she notifies her motor insurance company of the eight penalty points on her licence and a 12-month disqualification.
