A 94-year-old woman who has been driving since the age of 12 has decided to hang her car keys up and let other people motor her around.
With an impressive and unblemished driving licence that spans 82 years, the pensioner from Hereford has decided to quit while she still has a clean licence.
After learning to drive at age of 12 in her parents Model T Ford, the lady has driven more than 600,000 miles but has never encountered a single bump to her car for which she would have claim on her motor insurance.
Commenting on her retirement from driving, the female driver insurance customer said: "I've driven hundreds of thousands of miles and still have a completely clean record, so I'm going to quit while I'm ahead.
"I'm a careful driver and I've never had an accident, a parking ticket or made an insurance claim. I think it's because I always keep my eyes wide open and stick to the rules of the road like glue.
"If the limit is 40 miles per hour I drive at 40mph, and I always make sure I have my foot at the ready to brake."
A spokesperson for the experts in women's car insurance, CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, said: "This female driver has set a very good example of just how safe and cautious lady drivers can be. After such a long time on the roads, we wish her all the best for the future and hope that other woman car insurance customers can follow her footsteps."

*A replacement car can normally be arranged under one of the following conditions: (1) Comprehensive policyholders – a replacement car may be available under the terms of your insurance policy. Please check your policy details for more information. (2) Non fault accident – where we have the name, car registration number and insurance details of the person who caused the accident, we can supply a replacement car. This is done on a credit hire basis which means the costs for this service will be passed onto the insurance company of the person who caused the accident. We may not be able to arrange a replacement car where we are unable to get an admission of liability from their insurance company, or where the driver is untraceable or uninsured. (3) Repair garage – if your car is booked in for repairs following an accident, the repair garage may be able to provide a replacement car (subject to availability).
