A lady who was the victim of a road rage attack is angry that the police have not taken more action to catch her attacker.
Jane Furnival, of Cheam in South London, was punched in the face three times and suffered temporary hearing loss and severe bruising in the assault, which took place on 14th February 2006.
It all started when an Audi reversed into Ms Furnival's car whilst trying to turn around in the street. She drove after it so that she could report the incident to her woman car insurance company and soon managed to catch up with it.
Ms Furnival explained what happened next, saying: "He jumped out and started jabbering at me. I said I wanted their insurance details and in the meantime I will take pictures.
"Of course he wrote down his address and name. I thought I don't know who you say you are so I took a picture of him and the car registration number."
"He went completely berserk. He started pulling up his hood over his head, crouched on the ground and started this ridiculous act as if he was [a] film star and screamed, 'no photos, no photos.'"
The driver's girlfriend, who had also been in the car, then joined in the argument and carried out the assault on Ms Furnival whilst being egged on by the man.
Ms Furnival reported the incident to the police immediately, pleased because she had the photographic evidence she had taken earlier.
However, she was told by the police that she had been "foolish" to have used the camera, which had been provided to her by her woman car insurance firm for this very purpose.
The police said that despite not having caught the attacker, they had been able to identify the driver and had provided Ms Furnival with the relevant motor insurance details.
A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: "As with all assaults of this type there is a six-month statutory time limit, laid down by legislation, which has now passed.
"To date there have been no arrests but should any further information come to light in the future it will of course be pursued vigorously."
