A young Polish woman has paid a high price, literally, for failing to know UK female driver insurance law.
The woman from Somerset had owned her car for just one day when she was involved in a collision, it was reported.
Having already admitted to driving without car insurance, she wrote a letter to the Frome court pleading ignorance of British traffic regulations. She said she thought she had some weeks to get it insured.
However, she was fined £150 with £35 costs and has received six points on her licence, it was reported in the media.
A spokesperson for leading woman's car insurance company CoverGirl said, "In this case ignorance was definitely not bliss. Women must remember to get insured.
"Why not try online car insurance companies such as CoverGirl who specialise in female driver insurance? They have made the process of finding cheap motor insurance quotes for women extremely quick and easy."
