CoverGirl womans car insurance provider has learned that Gloucestershire Police recently aimed to curb the tide of insurance dodgers with a two day traffic action in November.
Operation Lotto was run by Hester's Way Safer Community Team (SCT), Cheltenham, in partnership with the DVLA, Trading Standards, the Environment Agency and Customs and Excise.
Police stopped over 100 vehicles during the operation and ten were seized for having no car insurance. Various other motoring offences were also detected.
Five arrests were made during the action; three people from Birmingham, including a 24-year-old woman, were detained for going equipped to steal.
Police Sergeant Paul Simmons from the SCT said: "Uninsured drivers present a real danger to other road users and, quite simply, drivers without valid insurance should not get behind the wheel of a car under any circumstances."
A Cover Girl spokesperson said, "Woman's car insurance is cheaper than for a male driver. If you shop around on the internet on sites such as CoverGirl you are likely to find really good car insurance deals. There is no excuse for not having valid car insurance"
