It is recognised that buyers of woman's car insurance are statistically less risky drivers than their male counterparts, but according to a new poll by elephant.co.uk the colour of your vehicle may have something to do with your driving habits.
According to the survey 25.4% of drivers questioned who drove a black car had speeding convictions and were 9% more likely to be carrying endorsements for speeding on their licence.
Drivers of grey cars were found to be the next most speedy, followed by drivers of silver, blue and brown cars.
If you drive a purple car ladies, car insurance providers are likely to snap you up as you are the most unlikely group to have been caught speeding.
Managing director of car insurance provider elephant.co.uk said, "We wanted to know why it is that drivers of black and grey cars appear to have more of a propensity to speed so we looked into more detail at the cars on our books.
"We found it didn't necessarily correlate that black and grey cars would
have bigger engines, so evidently for drivers of these coloured cars,
the temptation to break the speed limit is simply too great whatever their
engine size."
A spokesperson for CoverGirl, the woman's
car insurance specialist, said, "At CoverGirl, when we offer you a
car insurance quote, we take into consideration your driving history as
the key element in determining the cost of your insurance."
