A Derbyshire woman has discovered that when buying woman's car insurance online, lying is not the best policy.
The Buxton woman applied for car insurance over the internet in October 2008 in the name of her partner.
However, she failed to disclose material personal information about her partner, conveniently neglecting to mention that, at that time, he was disqualified from driving.
During her court appearance, the 29-year-old, admitted the charge under Part VI of the Road Traffic Act 1988 and was ordered to pay a fine and costs totalling £175.
In defence, her lawyer said, "[My client] accepts she made an application on the internet in the name of …, her partner, when she knew he was disqualified from driving.
"Her objective was solely to obtain insurance for her to be covered on the vehicle."
The chairman of the bench, said, "You deceived the insurance company about your situation and your partner's situation."
The female driver's partner, whose driving ban expired in December, denied taking out the woman's car insurance policy.
