Despite men's jibes about female drivers being bad at parking, women's car insurance rates reflect the generally good level of skill ladies have when driving. However, although it hurts to say it, the men might be right about one woman driver from Leyland.
The woman, believed to be aged between 20 and 30, was driving through the town in the early hours of the 28th December when she lost control and crashed through the wall of an empty house, with the car ending up embedded in the wall.
Fortunately the lady and her passenger were not seriously injured in the crash, although things could have been very different had they punctured - rather than just hit - a gas main located at the property.
A woman living next door to the house that was damaged commented: "I was in bed when I heard it and immediately opened the curtains to see the back end of a car sticking out of next door.
"Living on this road, we're used to the noise, but not like that. They are very lucky that the gas pipe they hit didn't explode and also that it wasn't early in the evening, when there are a lot of people about."
It looks as if the female driver's insurance company are going to have a hefty bill to pay, after the son of the property owner estimated the damage at £3,000. He explained that the front wall had been damaged, a radiator had been torn off and the downstairs of the building had flooded as a result.
Lee-Anne Bass, of women's car insurance experts CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, commented: "It sounds as if the occupants of the car had a very lucky escape - it could have been a lot worse.
"However, it could take this woman a while to live down jokes about her unusual choice of parking."
