Ladies are growing evermore savvy when it comes to being environmentally friendly and some are even ditching their car insurance for women in favour of eco-friendly motor insurance policies.
In order to see just how eco-friendly drivers are (both in and out of their cars), YouGov carried out a survey of 2,500 people.
Its findings revealed that, unsurprisingly, women are much more environmentally friendly than men. Ladies are much more likely than men to make an effort on the small things, such as reusing carrier bags and turning off the light switch as they leave the room. The effects of these everyday activities add up and result in much greener living.
Men, on the other hand, are more likely to make a big effort now and again - such as with the purchase of an expensive item like an eco-friendly car. However, although these occasional moves are welcomed by green campaigners, they are less effective than women's sustained environmental friendliness.
The survey also found that 4x4 drivers were amongst the greenest people in the UK when it comes to recycling. This is rather a surprising finding, considering that many 4x4s are amongst the most polluting vehicles on our roads.
However, it may be explained by the fact that 4x4 drivers are often quite well off and can afford to choose environmentally-friendly products, which are often a little more expensive than non-green goods.
Lee-Anne Bass of CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, a company specialising in cheap car insurance for women, said: "Most people seem to be making some sort of an effort to be eco-friendly, whether it is by buying "green" car insurance or doing recycling.
"I think we have made great progress from a decade ago, when very few people had adapted their lifestyles to greener living."
