Ladies are better known for their low cost woman's car insurance rates than using hi-tech gadgets but a new study has shown that female drivers actually use in-car devices more often than men.
Holiday Autos, a car hire company, carried out a study of 2,500 drivers and found that although men buy more gadgets for their motors - to the tune of £4b annually - these remain unused most of the time.
Female drivers, on the other hand, are much more likely to splash out on those items that they would find really useful in the car and, as a result, use their gadgets much more often.
Mr Nassos, managing director of Holiday Autos, commented: "Men and women are miles apart when it comes to choosing which accessories they can't live without in their car.
"For men it's about impressing the boys and the swank factor, women are more interested in making theirs and their passengers' lives more comfortable."
The top five most popular car accessories for men are sat nav systems, upgraded music players, hands-free kits, air conditioning and speed camera detectors. This contrasts with women, whose top five are air conditioning, a mirror with light on the driver's side, electric windows, a big glove box and a six stack CD player.
Lee-Anne Bass of the woman's car insurance firm CoverGirl Car Insurance Services said: "It's certainly not surprising that gadgets are so popular with both male and female drivers - little things like electric windows make a huge amount of difference.
"However, drivers should remember to hide away gadgets that could attract thieves - things like sat navs and CD players - otherwise they risk losing their cheap motor insurance deal."
