A recent survey is causing worry for woman car insurance companies across the UK. Women, it seems, make the best liars.
The research, carried out by Mr Porky (a pork scratchings company), found that most women are prepared to lie about almost anything - from "I love yous" to their partner to exaggerating their accomplishments on their CV.
However, the finding that is most concerning for woman car insurance firms is that 6% of lady drivers own up to having lied about their involvement in a car crash. According to the research, they are likely to get away with it too, with more than two thirds of Brits believing that women make better liars than men.
Furthermore, 61% of women say that they don't even feel guilty about telling a lie, whether it be a little fib like "It's just what I always wanted" or something more serious, such as denying an affair.
Thankfully for the ladies' motor insurance companies, the most common lies centred around everyday phrases used more out of politeness rather than for personal gain.
The three most common lies were "Nothing's wrong, I'm fine", "Nice to see you", and "Sorry I missed your call".
Sarah Nunn, of Mr Porky manufacturers Red Mill Snack Foods, said: "Brits are renowned for keeping a stiff upper lip and most of these lies occur when we're too polite to say the truth. Everybody always says they're fine when in fact they're having an awful day."
