Female van drivers spurning car insurance quotes

Research by AA Insurance has found that ladies are ditching cheap car insurance quotes in favour of getting fabulous value van cover instead.

Contrary to the popular stereotype of a "White Van Man", the UK car insurance company revealed that 35% of commercial van drivers are female.

However, the researchers do not believe that ladies are taking over traditionally male-dominated careers. Instead, ladies are increasingly using vans for businesses such as dog walking and baby activity classes.

AA Insurance's research also showed that vans don't only come in handy for work. 56% of those interviewed by the motor insurance firm said that they preferred to take the van over the car when going shopping, and 24% reported that they would opt for a van for road trips.

Gemma Turner of CoverGirl Car Insurance Services, a company which specialises in car insurance quotes for women, said: "It doesn't surprise me that so many ladies are now driving vans. I bet they are getting some great quotes for their van insurance policies, too."
